We might be launching a matrix server soon if you're potentially interested?
I am fine on social media such as Reddit, Tumblr, and Blue Sky but Game Jolt becoming incredibly toxic to me and Discord wasn't a great option because its user unfriendly and too strict with security bullshit like stupid verification and phone number verifying. a real pain in the ass honestly. thats why I quit Discord. a better app like Yahoo Messenger is the thing we definitely need it back!
Lots of dead users on Steam and Game Jolt as well. Ichio is too much of a market place than a place to talk there thats why theres no chat on Ichio. Plus its full of weird horror shit there as much as Game Jolt is. I like a better gaming site with family friendly games, clean and like minded people, and of course a working reliable chat feature with friend invites please!

what's a matrix server?
Matrix is basically like a self-hosted version of Discord.
Your accounts work a lot like an email address: instead of just "@kippykip.com" or "@gmail.com", it’s something like @kippykip:matrix.org.
You can create an account on a big public server (like matrix.org), but those can go offline or get shut down or if you get publicly cancelled for some bs.
If you run your own Matrix server though, it’s completely under your control and can’t just disappear on you.
And since Discord has become utter crap these past 5 years, it's looking like a viable option at the moment.
I fucking hate discord. We should’ve been on Skype by now, or some other platform that didn’t have such intense moderation, and you have full control over what you say or do. It sucks that the only viable options for free speech online is signal, telegram, Skype, or any 1-1 chat platform.
It’s funny, my friend was addressing discords issue with sharing CSAM (the underlying problem that discord harbors so many creeps and losers), and he got banned and flagged for it. Like, you can’t even talk about the negatives of a topic without being hit with a ban or even getting flagged by Feds. It’s fucking retarded
Yeah there's a massive bug atm, they use Microsoft PhotoDNA to detect CSAM, and right now their database is flooded with "grid like" entries, which makes any grid based image (such as the minecraft inventory, garrysmod spawn menu, or gallery view of a directory) flagged as CP.
Absolutely bonkers amount of people have been banned, and while Discord twitter says they're working on it and are aware, people haven't actually been unbanned and are currently community noted.
And since you can't actually speak to a real human, just that fucking "cogger-clydebot" auto-reply, you basically have to start your account fresh.
If you were subscribed to Discord Nitro, you have to change your card number as you cannot unsubscribe while banned.
As a long term solution discord is just straight not viable, and skype is dead.
Plus I doubt Discord would approve our preservation and meme archive go against basically all their policies even is it isn't PhotoDNA banning if our community server gets looked into.

There are countless UTTP slop servers out there, ones that share CP or discuss sharing it (It's a very bad rabbit whole of soyteens who shares the most horrible shock videos you could imagine), I have come across dead servers with links forwarding you to telegram groups and then sharing what is in those groups (usually a bot spamming it, like those MrBeast crypto scams) , and the way they even bypass it is just using a fucking font. It's because when a platform like Discord, Roblox, Facebook gets popular and normiefied, they often have to act like they're doing something about the problem otherwise they'll get sued into the ground about not moderating properly.
And because there's far too much content being posted actively on these platforms to feasibly review, they opt for shitty AI bots.
...Which would normally be fine, IF APPEALS were still handled by humans at the end.
The fact that it's simply not an option at all now sucks, heck in 2020 everyone including Meta/Facebook were all using the "due to covid-19 we can't do appeals" excuse
