Ultimately it got completely out of control. Because I have so many weird obscure projects and niches, all in one single discord with very few rules.
The intention was to create a classic wild west 2010 YouTube comment vibe, which the first few years of the discord, it was basically like that
But later on, almost nobody completely got along, there was always fights, shitposters would try to gatekeep it and bully clickteam users, socially awkward techy users (bonus points if they're a furry/autistic or something) and new curious users.
Somehow, it ran from 2017-2022 mostly okay with some minor incidents, however then after it started to get really personal and multiple groups of small asshole users would harass and mass DM who they deemed undesirable and then it led to doxxing, harassing irl family members of the users using their own private discords or troll groups.
Banning just led to just more alts and them targeting me (how could you side with this degenerate instead of us?) which led to finding personal info of my experimental irl business, which led to me making a redirector with an IP range check for the discord invites, but then the alts just got quieter and stealthier and doxxing was getting stupidly rampent to me or my tech friends. Usually when something stressful was going on irl or one of us would vent about something.
Everytime I'd announce something I was coding or experimenting with on the side, it would just get torn down with something like "NOBODY CARES F*GGOT". It got to the point where pretty much all my actual friends and tech buddies left the server, even the moderators.
It just wasn't fun anymore, anything I shared was being used against me and started to be seen as a lowcow in my own server. It basically turned from a hobby/meme server into annoying teenagers doxxing on soyjak.party or 8chan.
The worst offenders or groups were always from either brazil or some eastern european country.
Once stuff started leaking out and going on twitter, or dox info spread to actual nintendo/clickteam lawyers that already had beef with this website preserving software of theirs (which isn't technically legal). I announced I was shutting it down.
Originally it was going to be in a read only state, but at the last couple minutes of shutdown even more assholes started posting personal photos and stuff of me from 10 years ago from family accounts etc. So I just nuked it.
