Long title but here's an explanation:
PSP's internal Playstation 1 emulator is called "POPS" or "POPSTATION".
Anyway it's Sony's official emulator which became hacked to play your own ISOs using a converter with CFW.
PSPs firmware version 4.01 and below were able to play games with CDDA audio (CDDA is CD audio which can be played on a CD player at will, some PS1 games used it), versions after that the CDDA audio will be dead silent.
There's a plugin called popsloader which can make your psp play games on older POPS versions which had CDDA support.
However you will lose a couple features like complete custom controls and no custom screen size depending on the version.
Watch out for an old popsloader, I found a rare one which worked on 6.60 and had a working analog support.

Anyway after god knows how many years, a group of people (Dark_AleX, reprep, Total-Noob) made a plugin which brings back CDDA audio on versions AFTER 4.01
So you can enjoy your custom options from 6.60 with CDDA Audio
